Huntington Beach has a nice mixture of residential single family homes that were mass produced in the early 1950's. There homes are typically one story homes located on smaller lots. Since that time larger homes were built that often feature a guest house or commonly referred to as a guest casita. These are often separate and additional living spaces that are ideal for extended family members or out of town guests. There are a couple of great areas where you can find these types of homes.
First, the Huntington Harbour is an excellent place to look at these homes tend to be larger than the average Huntington Beach home with a nice mixture of water front and beach close homes. Waterfront homes in this neighborhood often come with a private boat docks that is an added bonus when living here. Another great place to consider is the downtown Huntington Beach area. The downtown area has seen a rise in the number of brand new construction homes in the last several years and if the home is situated on a large enough lot then it might have a bonus guest casita.
It's important to note that the city of Huntington Beach does allow for an Accessory Dwelling Unit which is basically converting a large garage space into a living space with proper permits.
